The Allen - Dudley Duo
Miriam Allen is a dancer/singer/composer/multi-instrumentalist
whose influences come from living and traveling in South America
and performing in Argentina, Cuba, Ecuador, and Mexico.
Performing throughout the Western Hemisphere, Miriam played with
the regional musicians wherever she went, and learned the local
dialects and dances, doing odd jobs and working as a street performer
to pay the way. Prior to these extensive travels, her childhood
musical training was as a "southerner" with
gritty singer/songwriter roots in South Carolina.
“Allen owns a voice that entices the listener to steal it
away for selfish keeping.
Be warned: To own a piece of her music means shards of the heart will forever
belong to her."
- The Mountain Xpress, Asheville, NC
Tom Dudley has enjoyed a diverse musical life
as a jazz guitar major at Berklee College of Music, an engineering
technician with synthesizer pioneer Robert Moog, and a founding
member of the Asheville bluegrass band County Farm. Dudley’s
2007 CD, “Walkin’ to the Bridge”, has received
critical acclaim from the bluegrass community, press and radio.
Together, Allen and Dudley bring to the table a unique musical
menu of Mountain Moonshine, Low Country Boil and Caribbean Salsa.
Allen’s strong, smooth, sometimes delicate vocals are complimented
by Dudley’s fiery flat-picking and soulful
rhythm guitar. |
