Human-Computer Interaction, CSC 3320, Spring 25', Carol J. Bales
Hi, I'm Miriam Allen, a senior in Computer Science with a focus in User Experience (UX) Design. Welcome to my blog where I'll be documenting my journey into my Human-Computer Interaction course.
A bit about me
I started out my time here at GSU as a transfer student from Howard University as a Biology major. After learning about User Experience, I switched my major to Computer Science with a renewed focus on pursuing a career in User Experience (UX) Design. I believe that pursuing an education with a foundation in computer science, combined with a deep understanding of human behavior, would help me with creating impactful and human-centered products. I'm eager to learn the practical skills and theoretical frameworks of HCI, like user research methodologies, interaction design principles, and the development and evaluation of user interfaces. I look forward to the knowledge and tools this course will equip me with.

Through my experience in co-leading and participating in the Girls Who Code UX design boot camp, being the UX designer of a team of 5 in the course: Digital Learners to Leaders, my current project as a UX designer for the L'oreal Brandstorm competition, and my current job as a web design work-study student for GSU, I have strengthened my collaboration, design thinking, and research skills. I have experience using Figma and Miro on previous projects and have conducted User interviews, created low-fidelity/high-fidelity wireframes, and user stories, and completed prototypes.
